For the month of May - We have been so furtunate with good weather and have only had one rained-out Thursday.

We ran two contests: 1) 'Decorate a Golf Ball' with a spring motif and 2) 'Most # of Fairway Drives'.

Anne Morris won the first contest with a 'Trio of Westover Beauties', Jonelle Buckley was second with a 'Colorful Beach Ball', and honorable mention went to Linda McNally for 'T 4 2'. These were all very creative and quite unique designs of a golf ball - nice job Ladies!!!

Donna McBride won the 'Most # of Fairway Drives' contest by landing on 7 fairways, and Marie McDonald came in second with 6 fairway drives. All totaled, we had 2 players with 5 fairways, 4 players with 4 fairways, 4 players with 3 farways, 5 players with 2 fairways, and one player with 1 fairway drive. This was a very good contest for our league because we focused a bit more on landing our drives in the fairway and thereby improving our scores. Good job Everyone!!!

The following players qualified for their 'Par Pins':  Jonelle Buckley, Robin Ross, Karern Fugelo, Marie McDonald, J'Aime Conrod, Jennifer Cross, Carolyn Straton, Connie Hanson, Donna McBride, Allison Wiley, Julie Nicholas, Cindy Lipshutz, and Carlene Marchese. Congrats to all!!!

Our league averages around 28 to 30 players every Thursday and we are having a great time!!!  Kiss

Hi Ladies,
Where do I begin to summarize our first month, April, at Westover?

Well, let's start by saying that we are becomming quite a golfing league and having a great time doing it. The staff at Westover couldn't be nicer and we appreciate their continued help and support.

During our first month there we offered the following series of golf clinics that were provided by Paul Galczyk on four Saturday mornings:

4/10 - Short game - chipping and putting
4/17 - Short irons - inside 50 yards
4/24 - Full swing - mid to long irons
5/1   - Power game - driver and bunker shots

We ran two sessions on each topic - one for novice players and one for intermediate players.  The clinics were a huge success and attended by a total of more than 60 students.

So far the weather has been great every Thursday and our league practice play got off to a terrific start. The first week we had 27 players tee off and then finished the evening by having drinks and/or dinner in the restaurant. This was repeated throughout April and we have had 26, 28, 27, and 32 players in the weeks that followed.

It's a great group of women of all playing levels with a common desire to enjoy the game.  We have about 30% beginners or novices and the rest of our group are intermediate and better players.
